John Martin - Architect
John Martin was a consummate architect’s architect and was the inspiration for Northwest functional, practical custom home design. John lost his battle with cancer in June of 2017.
John designed many original floor plans as well as created lots of local dental and small commercial projects. John absolutely loved to create new designs and was great at taking a client’s vision and transforming that vision in to a very livable home.
Charles Sax - Architect
After a long, successful, professional career Charles Sax returns to an interest in small homes. That involvement financed part of his college education when he won a national competition for small home design.
Charles Sax has practiced architecture for over forty years. He received his bachelors degree in architecture from North Carolina State University after serving as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Before military service he studied at The Cooper Union in New York City.
Prior to forming his own firm he interned with national offices. Buildings designed by Sax have received awards from The American Institute of Architects and the Consulting Engineers Council of Oregon. He has been a visiting design critic at The University of Oregon, Portland State University and The Oregon School of Design.
His active involvement in community activities includes service on the Multnomah County Planning Commission, board positions with numerous cultural and community service organizations including The Rotary Club of Portland. He served ten years, including chairmanship, on the Portland Design Commission.
Writing and publication experience includes: columnist on architecture for The Portland Business Journal, corporate facility design manuals and articles for national trade publications. The United States Environmental Protection Agency awarded him a grant for an environmental publication.
Sax has been an instructor in areas of professional development. Sax taught courses at the University of Wisconsin’s Department of Engineering Professional Development over a ten year period. He has been a speaker and presenter at numerous national conferences and conventions.
Darin Rueppell - Architect
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Darin graduated from college and began his career in 1992 as a Lead Structural Designer for Willamette Industries before moving into the building design industry. He established Rueppell Group, Inc., a home design, structural and marketing company concentrating on the production housing industry. In 2007, Darin partnered his company and employees with SDC Homes. His duties now include management of home design, drafting, engineering, marketing, permitting, client relations, acquisitions, and operations. In his free time, Darin enjoys traveling, skiing, fishing and spending quality time with his wife and two children.
Darin Rueppell, has 25 years experience and has maintained an impeccable record of client loyalty and satisfaction, revered in the Home Design industry for commitment, quality, and swift project turnaround. While leading one of the top Home Design firms in the country and 300+ builder clients, he has also gained experience in all phases of Construction, Land Development, Analysis and Engineering. Additional professional experience includes President of SDC Homes, 2007-2010 and Division Vice President of Richmond American Homes of WA, 2010-2012.
His 25 year span of expertise in the industry has included publication in numerous magazines for national plan sales, lateral and vertical analysis of structural engineering, marketing and graphic design, construction administration in sub-divisions, vacant land investing, market depth and analysis, civil engineering management, and zoning regulations. He is considered a production housing expert for the Northwest Region and has over 1500 home plans available in his collection for re-use.

John Rodriguez - Home Designer
John’s introduction to construction and building design began in 2004 when he attended Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood, WA. He received a degree in Architectural Drafting and Design, leading to a position at a Structural Engineering office.
After 11 years he decided to open his own Design Firm leading to new opportunities for creativity and ingenuity. He became the founder and owner of New World Design LLC. John is a detail oriented Draftsman & Designer developing a wide range of plans for residential, commercial office buildings, mini homes, retail spaces, restaurants and more. His knowledge of Structural Engineering gives his clients an advantage, helping them to understand the overall structure and scope of work that will be involved in each project.
